Heels in the Sand recap
Second time we have rented this home!! Everything was fantastic, as we remembered it, from the house being spotlessly clean to it having every amenity we could think of!! Worth every penny!!!- Anonymous from Midlothian, Posted: 7/15/2024
Love OBX
We have been going to OBX since 1996. Heels in the Sand is absolutely amazing! The kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, cups, and wine glasses. We loved the the large island in the kitchen along with the large breakfast table. It gave us plenty of room to prep meals. The dining room table is very large and worked well with our group. The room on the middle floor with the pool table and bar was used nightly. Also on the middle floor is a desk and chair for some of our group who had to work a bit. All the bathrooms were very nice and clean - just a note - there is only 1 bath towel per person, so the ladies with long hair just brought an extra towel. The pool area had plenty of Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs. And there are quite a few umbrellas if you need shade. We all liked that the pool gets deeper in the middle - the twin house next door, Ritz Palm, is flat and only 3 feet deep all the way across - so we were better able to swim in this pool. We could not get the sound system to work, but the 30 year olds brought speakers and just hooked them up to their phones. The house is huge - there is plenty of space to chill or read. Overall, the house is very well appointed and very well maintained. We definitely plan to return.- Anonymous from Severna Park, Posted: 7/8/2024
Heels In the Sand - We survived Idalia!
We just returned from our stay at Heel on the Sand. We were a large group of family and friends that drove from 7hours and up to 14 hours away to spend the week together. From the start we were pleased that we arrived about 45min early and it was just about to pour on us. We had unloaded and reached out to the rental company who was kind enough to grant us entry. The house is massive and the pictures on the website mostly depict what is there with minimal differences. First all the house was clean inside, bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen and common areas. Bottom floor - It has 4 bedrooms, gym, garage w ping pong and air hockey, movie room and then a small kitchen area with a sink, dishwasher, refrig and some games that leads to the pool. The 2nd floor (that you enter on) - pool table area, 4 bedrooms and a sitting/office area. The 3rd or top floor 1 bedroom, kitchen living room. The kitchen is well stocked!! So glad for once a large house with lots of utensils, pots, pans, bake wear, fry pans, bowls, platters and a pantry. 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, 2 refrigerator, 2 stoves, 3 ovens. I find the electric stove tops are always tricky and the exhaust fans don't really do much. Ice machine works and always stocked but the ice has to be cracked as it doesn't break on its own much. If anything we didn't have enough glasses so we bought plastic cups. If you plan to really cook and have snacks out you will probably have to sacrifice the large table with the bench seating as there is just not enough counter space to cook, layout food, drinks and snacks. When the dishwashers run they take a long time and make the counter hot above them so don't store your bread - like we did. I wish that all the coffee makers in the house were the same brand and same filter, just makes it all easier for everyone to use and stock. We def needed double the amount of kitchen dish towels. The deck outside the kitchen is very small and the high seats are not stable - you really could not eat breakfast unless you carried it out over the pool cabana. The house REALLY carries sound. You can hear someone on the phone on the 2nd floor in the office area almost anywhere in the house. That office area really needs glass and a sliding door so that if 1 person has to work or have a confidential call it can be used. But it has great desk area, lounge area and outlets. The printer would not air print and we did not bring a cord. Same with pool table room, it needs a door, so that when a group stays up late to play and sing the entire house won't be disturbed. The elevator was used and worked out well for luggage and grocery runs. The pool is nice and large. Love the lounge chairs in the water and the swim up bar. We wish it was somewhat deeper and had a volleyball net. Also due to the beach and sand it needs daily cleaning and having a vacuum run at night or at least 2x a week would help. The hot tub seemed to be either 97 or 104. It has an odd shape that just makes sitting in it awkward, but we made it work. The outdoor area or cabana is just not very comfortable, could def use a remodel. We loved the outdoor ice machine as it had the best ice shape. The outdoor bathroom is nice. We used the Sauna but it took us a few times to figure out how to work it. The furniture around the pool is nice, but a few lounge chairs were broken and again lots of spider webs everywhere outside. In general all outdoor areas just need to be power washed more frequently. The stereo system is super confusing to use and some speakers just don't work. The screen is way to small and difficult to read. We did use it as much as we could. The gym and garage has a very musty feel and smell, def could use a dehumidifier and some type of air fresheners. All in all would I go back? Yes. The street is private and the beach too. We brought our own tent and chairs to put out daily. Wi-Fi worked well in the entire house and outside. We used all 4 refrigerators in the house too. Parking was ample. Views from the decks breath taking! We survived Idalia! The wind was strong and lots of rain. We didn't feel the storm (only the 3rd floor master, who heard it all night). But the company came the night before the storm to secure outdoor furniture and check all windows. Thank you for the memories.- Anonymous U from Tappan, NY, Posted: 9/4/2023

Family Reunion Vacation
We were generally pleased with our vacation, rental property and management staff. There were several maintenance issues that were not resolved during our vacation.- Anonymous from Ellicott City, Posted: 8/8/2023
Love, love love this place!
We have stayed at Heels in the Sand e a couple times now for our family vacation. This home is absolutely beautiful, and well thought out for accommodating several families with diverse ages. It is well equipped with amenities - pool, games, theater, etc. There is so much to do, it felt like our own private resort. Access to the beach and views of sunrise were amazing. The rooftop deck of the pool house offers a great spot for star gazing on clear nights. Kitchen is equipped with everything we needed for a lot of creative cooking, and is set up well for catering if needed. We visit OBX often, and have stayed in a variety of different houses and towns. Heels in the Sand by far is my favorite.- Anonymous U from Philadelphia, PA, Posted: 6/28/2023
Magnificent Home!
My friends and family have had the immense pleasure of visiting this magnificent, immaculately clean oceanfront palace in Corolla on several occasions. Heels in the Sand boasts panoramic views of the great Atlantic to the east and a natural wildlife sanctuary just across the road to the west. Spectacular sunsets are truly a feast for the eye and dark night stargazing will surely leave you breathless. With luxurious amenities throughout—from the sumptuous indoor theatre to the London pub-like billiards room—the extended family Stewart adores Heels in the Sand!- Johanna S from Morgantown, WV, Posted: 5/26/2023We agree 100%, Heels in the Sand is absolutely gorgeous!- Coast Realty NC staff, Posted: 6/28/2023
